February 26-28
Winter Drill at Old Bedford Village, Bedford, Pa.
Confederate and civilian townfolk.
. . .
CS FEBRUARY 1863 PORTRAYAL
We will be doing a loose portrayal of eastern CS troops in the post-Fredericksburg timeframe. This means an assortment of uniform pieces can work, including frocks, RDI, RDII, commutation, hats, caps, and captured US overcoats. For gear, the typical CS accoutrements, haversacks, canteens for early 1863, with other captured US items acceptable. As usual with drills, the emphasis is not on the uniform, but rather the practice of our unit functioning as a cohesive military body.
ACTIVITIES
The majority of Saturday for the military will be spent drilling, with a break at mid-day for lunch. Saturday evening's dinner will be eaten in the Tavern, and then we will later return for live period music played by some of our members along with drinks that will be served by Jerry doing period bartending (bring candles and oil lamps to help illuminate the tavern). To help reimburst Jerry for the cost of drinks, please plan to tip at least $1-$2 per drink. We will be sleeping on the floors in the period houses with working fireplaces for both nights. The LR annual meeting will be held Sunday morning at 9 AM in the multi-purpose room in the Visitor Center, and we should be wrapped up with the weekend easily by 12 noon.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Both nights we will be sleeping in the period houses throughout the village - all of which have working fireplaces. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Bedford Village, you won't have to worry about your equipment's portability so bring as many blankets or whatever is necessary for you to sleep comfortably (only period items of course). The civilians will be staying in Buildings #1 and #25 while the military will be in Buildings #2, #7, and #8 with a Sergeant in charge of each. Mac will be set up in one of the buildings with his period sutler impression as well. If you look on http://www.oldbedfordvillage.com/vMaps.php you will see a map of the village with photos of the respective buildings.
MEALS
The unit will be providing food for both military and civilian attendees. The military cooking is being headed up by Joey Frutchey and Cody Harding. We've got a pretty exciting menu planned that we are both looking forward to cooking up for everyone. We will be providing light fare for breakfast (including coffee) on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition, meals will be served for Saturday lunch and dinner. The civilians will be cooking their own food. However on Saturday evening we will all be coming together to eat dinner in the tavern, followed by drinks and period music.
FEE
There is a per-person fee to use the village over the winter time. Each participant is asked to contribute a $5 event fee, and the company will cover the remainder. Remember that this fee gets us firewood, water, indoor bathrooms, houses with working fireplaces, a large drill field, an indoor room for the annual meeting, and the proceeds go towards operating the historical village. You can also pay your annual LR dues at the same time, and the amount is TBD (should be around $5-$10 for the year).
